Tempur's unique history begins in the late 1960s, when NASA scientists were asked to create a material that could give astronauts relief from tension during test flights. To this end they invent a new material composed of billions of open cells capable of gradually adapting to the temperature and weight of the body.

In the 1980s, NASA published the formula for this technology and the Danish company Dan Foam A/S immediately realized the extraordinary power of that material. He then began to perfect the formula and production process, paying attention to the creation of mattresses and pillows. In 1991, the first mattress and pillow were created with the "TEMPUR" brand (the name summarizes the fact that the material is sensitive to temperature and its main component, i.e. Polyurethane). Thanks to their unique adaptation, the products achieved immediate success in the healthcare field.

NASA then recognized the extraordinary achievements of TEMPUR for adapting original NASA technology to everyday life and improving the quality of life.

At the end of the 90s, the company opened to the general public, enjoying great success in this case too. All mattresses and pillows from the TEMPUR® brand are based on this technological innovation, making them unique and inimitable.
